Safari Itinerary Summary

Days 1 to 3

A light aircraft journey will take you to a luxury tented camp called Duma Tau which means “roar of the lion”. This is a luxury tented camp set on a lagoon and lying within the private 125,000 hectare Linyanti Wildlife Reserve in northern Botswana, and bordered to the east by Chobe National Park. Duma Tau is a stylish lodge that is in a game rich area, so expect exciting game drives as this area is notable for its elephants, lion, leopard and African wild dogs.

Days 4 to 6

Your guide and tracker will accompany you to your light aircraft for your journey into the Okavango Delta to the beautiful Little Vumbura camp. It is an adventure reaching this camp as it is only accessible by boat as the camp is set on an island in the midst of the water wonderland that is the Delta.
An excellent way of exploring this area is by boat and mokoro as you can glide close to the game at the water’s edge, then jump into a 4x4 to take in the plains game and predators that inhabit this area in good numbers.

Day 7

Depart camp by light aircraft to Maun and your onward journey.
Optional extra would be to add on 2 nights in the Central Kalahari and we will be pleased to advise you on best times to include this. Also consider starting your holiday at Victoria Falls to relax before the safari begins!

Duma Tau is a luxury tented camp lying within the private 125,000 hectare Linyanti Wildlife Reserve in Northern Botswana, and bordered to the east by Chobe National Park.

The camp is situated close to the source of the Savute Channel on Osprey Lagoon and between two elephant corridors, and is built under a shady grove of mangosteen trees with sweeping views over the enormous hippo-filled lagoon.

Raised off the ground on wooden decks that provide a great vantage point for dramatic views of the riverfront, the 10 tents (including two family units) are spacious with canvas roofs and walls and wooden entrance doors. Tents feature twin or double beds draped with mosquito nets, fans and en-suite facilities with indoor shower and double vanity. Main camp areas include an airy and expansive dining, bar and lounge raised on decks with wide open views.

There is an evening camp fire, a small library, curio shop, massage treatments on request (additional charge) and adjoining plunge pool.

Vumbura Plains and Little Vumbura Camp are situated in the extreme north of the Okavango Delta in what is known locally as the Kwedi Reserve.

Here the vegetation ranges from open flood plains to dense mopane bushveld – offering spectacular game viewing and birding opportunities all year round.

Little Vumbura Camp is situated on an island in a private concession in the northern reaches of the Okavango Delta, in the same region as its sister camp, Vumbura Plains.

A six-roomed tented camp shaded by the canopy of an ancient Okavango Delta forest, each tent is large and roomy and has en-suite facilities. A plunge pool and reading area overlook the floodplains and a star deck leads off the dining area.

Surrounded as it is by water and lying close to large rivers, water-based activities are a focus at Little Vumbura Camp with mokoros traversing the floodplains under the guidance of experienced polers. Motor boats make their way up and down the permanent channels.

Game drives in open Land Rovers allow guests to get close to animals in the savannah areas.

Walks (on request) around the islands are an opportunity to enjoy Africa from a different perspective.

Game viewing is consistently good all year round at Little Vumbura Camp with lion, leopard, elephant, sable and buffalo along with extensive plains game providing an excellent all-round wildlife experience in this remote corner of the Okavango Delta.
