Safari Itinerary Summary

Days 1 to 3

Upon arrival into Kasane, Botswana take a light aircraft deep into the bush to Selinda Private Reserve where you will be met at the airstrip for your 4x4 transfer into Selinda Explorers Camp.

Spend 3 nights at Selinda Explorers Camp in a Meru style tent, fully inclusive with its expedition-style decor complete with ensuite bucket showers and flushing toilet.

With the wildlife viewing activities mainly focused on guided walks and canoe trips followed by open vehicle game drives, this area is a wildlife hotspot which is home to huge herds of elephant and buffalo. It is here that lion, wild dog, sable and roan antelope are all spotted on a regular basis.

Days 4 to 6

Depart Selinda Explorers Camp and take a scenic light aircraft flight into the Okavango Delta.   The Delta is a heavenly waterworld teeming with animal and birdlife! It lies in the heart of Botswana’s Kalahari desert and exists due to the Angolan rains flooding down the so called pan handle each year and fanning out into a myriad of water systems.

Spend 3 nights at Shinde Camp in a Classic Luxury Safari Tent, Fully inclusive.

Nestled on a lush palm island in the heart of the northern Okavango Delta, Shinde is an intimate, classic camp located on the edge of Shinde Lagoon,  which simply teems with animal and birdlife.

Shinde is so well located in the delta that it offers both land and water based game viewing activities.  This is a super combination allowing for 4x4 game drives with your personal guide in specially designed game viewing vehicles, as well as motorboat and mokoro safaris to explore this aquatic wonderland.  We ensure maximum of 4 guests in each vehicle.  On top of that adventure, there are also walking safaris and fishing enthusiasts can try their hand at catching tilapia or tigerfish.

Day 7

Depart camp by light aircraft to Maun and your onward journey.
Optional extra is to start your journey at Victoria Falls and /or add on 2 nights in the Central Kalahari. We will be pleased to advise you on best times to include this.

Selinda Explorers Camp is located in the 320,000 hectare Selinda Reserve of northern Botswana and is built on the banks of the Selinda Spillway, about one hour west of its sister camp, Selinda.

This classic camp, consisting of four custom-designed tents, transports us back to authentic safaris, but with a modern twist and hospitality.  The camp’s focal point is the Bedouin-style main area consisting of a lounge and separate dining room.

Subtly placed under the shade of the riverine forest, the camp is designed in the style of the early explorers both in philosophy and practice.  Whiling away afternoons under the canopy of African ebony and mangosteen trees, interspersed with walks and canoeing, make this a respite from the ‘daily grind’ of a traditional safari.

This authentic tented camp draws on traditions of the classic East African safari with beautifully detailed campaign style furniture made from recycled hard woods, and soft furnishings from Zanzibar and the East.

The custom-designed semi-permanent tents consist of two rooms plus veranda, as well as a private open air ‘bustani bathroom’ with hot water bucket showers and flush loo.  All tents are at ground level, including the main lounge and dining area. This is an unassuming camp, light on its footprint but heavy on its experiential luxury.

The atmosphere of the camp is one of bush elegance with relaxed bohemian style, complemented by attentive staff, private professional service and fabulous food.
